I used a red colored one which is dim enough it can't be seen in the day light, but in darkness lights up just enough that you can see the tip of the pointer.

I was thinking about ordering one- about $175 in exc. cond. with the Weaver mount.I was shooting with my trilux earlier this year and the cheap mount's rivets gave way and it broke. The scope landed in my lap and is undamanged. I had the mount tig welded today but the T-bar is slightly crooked. If this was a tack driver of a rifle I'd be very concerned.
