After the windy part, the road will straighten out, you drive through the east side of Lahaina -- and then a few more miles to Ka'anapali. It is a resort area with its own turn-off and left-turn lights. It's like a parkway.GREAT CHOICE. Regarding the rental car and parking... yes, you will need a car even if it's just to get to and from the airport (Westin doesn't offer trips too and from the airport). The Westin does offer shuttle service to and from Lahaina (not sure how often, because, we didn't use the service). Parking is pretty good.
