Even with a 15 second cooldown, the boulders do 60-80 damage with infinite piercing. Garden gnome optional. ;-) For Tier 1, especially with my imps blasting away, they just leave the flyers for me to deal with.

Functional Old One's Army Arena! - 1.4 Pre-Hardmode. Me and my partner recently built this working Old One's Army arena using Actuators and paint. The 2 chests at the bottom are for the Medals/Armor (when we get to that point) and Staffs/Loot, as a place to put any extra drops. The Old One's Army enemies are immune to traps and lava. They also walk through walls if they're in the way. They pretty much made it impossible to afk farm this event. Your best approach is probably just a long, flat sky bridge.
