Rural mail count 2023.
For many years, an official mail count evaluated how long the route took to complete. For two to three weeks a year, every parcel, letter, and flat was counted and put into a formula. The subsequent number of hours, with a per-hour pay rate based on seniority, became a rural letter carrier’s base pay.

That's what my route is supposed to take. Excluding vacations and sick leave for sake of argument, 45 hours x 52 weeks = 2340. So I should be able to work 2340 hours if needed.

You deliver for the next 6 months with no pay increase, and then on the next mini mail count you bust, and immediately, the route is cut. You never got paid for that 6 months of extra work.
