Atlas is second only to SVI. Yes, they are now a bit ugly but their quality is superior to most other brands and turn around is faster. STI and Staccato are more production level, good but not Atlas or SVI good. A couple other options are: Phoenix Trinity, Cheely, Akai, Carne Customs, Rafferty, McLearn.

There is a VERY noticeable difference is racking smoothness, ability to clean and appearance (since it doesn't show wear). I feel guilty I didn't get the DLC ...I keep hearing about Atlas, but I've heard nothing but positive things about Staccato. My only 1911 comparison is my Springfield RO Champion in .45, and my TRP. I've been carrying S&W (M&P) sig, and currently CZ polymers for years, but I've always loved my 1911's for range duty, but not for carry.
