Luckily, I devised a solution that ameliorated the issue without having to contact tech support. I bought and set up my own modem and router. No need to plug the brands, a simple google search will set you in the right direction and give you all the info you need to make an informed decision on what set up fits your needs.

I have suffered this abuse too All you need to do is change your Mac and/or ip address. On PC Mac address is easier to change. Just Google how to do it and then you are free!!! Hope this helps.
