It is Ruby and Sapphire where having a live battery matters because then you can just soft reset like you can in later gens if that is your thing, but you can't get Mew in RS of course so you are stuck with Emerald's broken RNG (RS functions the same way with a dead battery so you want a live one for soft resetting).
