Ive got the optical camo and the GRFS version and the GRFS didnt seem like it did anything, that it was just a gimmick. The GRFS outfit i didnt see anything about it helping with lowering detection rates both in game and on forums and such, and i still havent seen any info on it other than "i think" type of comments.
Yeah the base Opti camo is kinda useless, I’d try and upgrade it to at least level 1-2 as quickly as possible. The upgrades aren't just about making it last longer or recharge faster. They also allow you to do more things while using it. For example the base when you first get it, you can't sprint or it will shut off.
Optimal camo will be completely invisible to enemy if they are unaware, but touch them and they notice you.
