Depends on the weapon. Shotguns and spin-up weapons (minigun, gatling laser, etc) behave differently in 3rd person than 1st. Shotguns fire damn near 50% faster in 3rd person. Jumping in 3rd person doesn't interrupt attacking with spin-up weapons and allows you to immediately bypass the spin-down animation by sprinting.
