Wondering if there are known issues with Spectrum's EN2251 modems. We have been constantly exchanging for quite some time. Some will be fine for months before failing. Others last only weeks. Trouble will start with the modem going offline and needing to be rebooted/reset. After a few days of this the modem will then completely fail.
Re:Installing deco m5 on spectrum modem. @Mannycs. Modem probably is not recognizing the new router. The modem probably works if you put in an old router if you had one. To get it to recognize the Deco, leave the Deco wired to the modem and powered on. Many inexpensive devices stop functioning correctly if you continuously use them without any interruptions. As a result, the orange light may start blinking to indicate overheating issues. To that end, you can power off the device for a few minutes and restart it after to resolve this issue.

Had the EN2251 on Gig, speeds were inconsistent, switched to an Arris S33 and dropped to 500 ultra and still getting Gig speeds. The Arris is a much better modem and keeps a consistent connection and speeds. raise your hand if you have a hitron en2251 modem, and were successfully updated to 500 ultra speed tier.A modem just gets an external WAN IP as mentioned. You need a managed switch that can assign IPs. Most switches are unmanaged and I'm guessing your DSL modem was doing the assigning for you but a standard cable modem won't do it. If a switch, it needs to be a L3 one with NAT functionality, in addition to DHCP. Ok.
