At loyalty 6 you can have your pet unhappy for hours in a row without ever dropping to loyalty 5, let alone to loyalty 1 and then running away. Like, someone could kill a hunters pet over and over for hours on end and it wouldn't make a difference. Killing it doesn't reduce loyalty, it only reduces happiness. 110.
