Seconding the enchant thing. The game isn't overly picky on elemental advantages so pick 1 and let the pawn have other skills (comestion/anodyne/halidom are 3 common picks for a support mage, leaving 2 more slots). I'd prefer a Utilitarian primary with either of those two combat inclinations as secondary.
Using the pawn commands too much can influence inclinations. There isn't a way to stop the changes, it can be slowed though. Most of us just keep a close watch for changes. Using the elixirs in varying amounts seems to help too.
