It replaced the Ringneck that did have some issue with the firing pins and springs but both those issues were addressed with the Sharptail especially when it come to the trigger which was greatly improved.

I bought a CZ 1012 last spring as a duck and spare sporting clay gun. It points nice with a good 60/40 spread. Very happy with it, has not failed to cycle a single shell (its probably had about 2500 go through it so far) with somewhat lackadaisical cleaning.

The Sharptail is a more recent design with a couple of upgrades. Not deal breakers, but upgrades none the less. Both have smaller, scaled, receivers in 20 ga. and don't use 12 ga. dimensions. So no worries there. Get whichever you like the most and let us know how it went.
