There is no downside to making a felling axe. I loved it for redwoods, the -20% logs only made it even more afk and you don’t really use redwoods outside of birdhouse runs. 99 wc at redwoods no regrets. Outside of maybe cutting teak or mahogany logs for construction, there is no real use for logs. Just go for felling axe!
